About Sonam Dawa:

A Tibetan Monk from the Ladakh region of the Himalaya’s, Sonam began his journey in 1985 at the age of 10 when he became a Tibetan monk. Studying Tibetan Buddist Philosphy at the Drepung Monastery in India, Sonam received a Geshe Lharampa Degree, the highest academic title within the Gelug School and the equivalent to a doctoral degree. This honor recognizes Sonam’s commitment to understanding Buddhist Philosophy having dedicated himself to years to studying, understanding and successfully debating 45 different sectors within the monastic system. Sonam studied at the same monastery and obtained the same degree as His Holiness, the 14th Dalai Lama of Tibet. Since 2016, Sonam has been teaching in Vietnam where he currently has over 4,000 students.

For the past decade, COOA has been blessed to work with Sonam as he has offered lectures and taught meditation lessons here at our center.

On Saturday Aug 9th, in honor of Sonam and our ten years of collaborative work and healing together, we invite you to join us for a Tibetan dinner lovingly prepared by Sonam himself. The evening will also include discussions around mindfulness and how we can be more present in our lives to cultivate joy and abundance.

We are thrilled to host Sonam as he travels through the US and are excited facilitate an opportunity to share in his deep wisdom and generous spirit.

There is no charge for the event, but a suggested donation of $10-$25 would be greatly appreciated in reciprocity for Sonam’s time and his offerings of nourishment; both spiritually and for the beautiful meal he will be preparing for us.
